Foster City California is leaving a lot to be desired. The best bar here is at a Mexican restaurant and there is a 10 PM curfew for minors. While it's a safe area, it makes me miss the excitement of Vancouver where the bars are open unitl 4 AM and the next street corner drug bust may happen before your very eyes.
I have yet to play hockey here though there is a rink. I'll work on getting some time off work to hit the ice one Friday morning coming up. I have a feeling that the play will not quite compare to that at 8 Rinks in Burnaby, BC.
To be fair to Foster City, it is a nice place, just a little too quiet for me. San Francisco is too far from the office and the rents there are a bit higher. So the trick is to find an area with lower rent (I HATE paying rent...see me later for an explanation if you are confused as to why), and with more to offer.
So far San Mateo has a nice shopping and dining district with quite a few apartments. Palo Alto also looks promising. I'll update this when it gets closer to move time (February).
